The day will comprise a pre-lunch piano rehearsal, followed by rehearsals with orchestra and soloists in the afternoon. An informal concert performance will take place in the early evening. This should end at approximately 7.45 pm.

The cost for the day is £10 (or £12 if you wish to hire a score)

Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided plus a sandwich tea between rehearsal and performance. Please indicate if you want to order a lunch and include cost with your application (download the leaflet - see right). You may choose to bring a packed lunch.

The oratorio The Seasons is one of Haydn’s last major works. In it he continues the tone painting that characterises his more frequently performed ‘The Creation’ – lambs leap, fish teem, bells toll, rifles crack, the cock crows and the frogs croak. Here is an opportunity to become acquainted with some delightful music for singers and players alike.

Although the work is too long to perform with only a few hours’ preparation, our selection will omit only three choruses.

We will be performing choruses 2, 6, 8, 8a, 11, 17, 18, 20, 36 and 39 in the New Novello edition. You can get a head start by borrowing a vocal score from your local library or follow your part at www.cyberbass.com The numbers of the choruses listed on this website are 2, 6, 8, 9, 12, 19, 20, 23, 40

and 44.

If you live in the vicinity of Ross-on-Wye, you will be welcome to join us at our Wednesday evening rehearsals of The Seasons from January 13th 2010. (Christ Church, Edde Cross Street, 7.30 to 9.30pm.

If you are thinking about coming from much further a-field, how about bringing non-singing family and friends with you to spend a day (or weekend) in the beautiful Wye Valley and Forest of Dean? The tourist websites Rossonwye.com and Visit Herefordshire are an

excellent source of information in this respect.

Whether you are an experienced singer or just discovering the pleasures of choral music, we will welcome you.
