warm upsOur ideal make-up is 40 singers – 16 sopranos, 12 altos, 6 tenors and 6 basses. As with almost every amateur choir, we are always looking for new singers and currently have some vacancies in each section, particularly for sopranos – and gentlemen.

If you are attracted by the opportunity to sing a wide variety of music in a small choir do not hesitate to contact our chairman, Gill Smith, on 01989 565338 or just come along to a rehearsal on a Wednesday evening, 7.30-9.30 p.m. at Christ Church Methodist/United Reformed Church, Edde Cross Street, Ross-on-Wye. Rehearsals last 2 hours with a short break for refreshment after about an hour.

Rehearsals start with warm-ups lasting no more than 10 minutes. Although these include activities to get the body and brain into gear and introduce healthy and effective singing practice, at the same time exercises are performed to establish discipline in the areas of intonation and tone colour

HandelAll music is provided except for the Watkins Shaw edition (Novello) of Handel’s Messiah which each singer owns.

The success of a small choir depends on the commitment of each member. Please only apply to join if you think you will be able to attend at least 8 out of every 10 rehearsals
