The Penyard Singers were formed in October 2000 to provide an opportunity for people of any age and experience to sing together.
Our repertoire covers a wide range of music, from baroque to pop. All concert performances are for charity. We also sing at weddings.
We give five or six concerts a year. Our main concert is in the spring and is performed with orchestra with a programme of music usually from the baroque or classical periods.
The other concerts are usually presented in smaller churches and village halls. A glance at our list of past concerts will give you an idea of where we perform.
We do not hold auditions. The only requirement for membership is the ability to sing in tune. If you like to sing – Join us
Our Conductor
Our music director is Tony Washington, from Eastnor, Ledbury.Tony began choral singing with Worcester Park (Surrey) Methodist Church Junior Choir, under his father’s direction, and has since sung in many choirs in England, Belgium, Holland and the U.S.A. and with several well-known orchestras including the BBC Symphony, the London Philharmonic, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Rotterdam Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic.
Retirement from international banking allowed him to settle in Herefordshire and having studied, as a chorister, the conducting and rehearsal technique of many experienced conductors, he took up choir directing.
